Faizuan Abdullah

I am an Associate Professor in Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. My work sits across analytical and environmental chemistry, with spectroscopy, electrochemistry and separation science as the core methods I use and teach.

Research

My research areas cover analytical and environmental chemistry: water quality analysis, water and wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring and pollution assessment, environmental impact assessment, and the spectroscopic, electrochemical and separation-science methods behind them. I head the Separation Science and Technology (SepSTec) research group.

I have published 85 research outputs, secured 27 research grants, supervised 15 postgraduate students, and been awarded 16 intellectual properties including patents and copyrights. My h-index is 13 on both Google Scholar and Scopus, with 1,198 citations on Google Scholar and 926 on Scopus.

Teaching & Supervision

I teach undergraduate courses in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, separation methods and general chemistry. I also supervise Masters and PhD students in areas ranging from water quality and electrochemical sensors to natural product extraction and biomaterials.

Industry Engagement

Beyond academia, I collaborate with industry partners and government agencies on technology transfer, product development and consultancy projects. Notable outputs include the Molluscure system for seafood processing, used cooking oil quality assessment technology, and various water treatment innovations.
